What I can't get over is that the mayor did this. A freaking elected official. And who would want to go to Chicago for terrorism anyways? Bad weather, extreme wind, and Oprah and Jerry Springer.

[Re: Dad in the News]
Eric, doesn't your dad know better than to leave "united states" uncapitalized? Sheesh.

[Dad in the News]
My dad was in the news in Chicago for his delay during Mayor Daley's midnight destruction of Meigs Field. Here is the link. If you would like to see his all-star interview go to the right-hand side under "related links", and click on "ABC7 Video Clip". I think that they said that the news clips will be up for about 10 days.

[Dr Hufhrurrhfurr]
I just saw Guster live while they performed two of their songs in the radio station that my g/f works at. Their new album is due in June and one song they sang "Amsterdam" was amazing. They play the Showbox tonight, anyone want to go to Seattle and see them with me?

[Zoinks!!]
For those of you interested, I've taken the guesswork out of figuring out which plane is Carl's by adding in his "exact" words upon discovering he was grounded.
I hope I don't get in trouble for taking creative webmaster license on this one. If you want to see the original picture, here it is.

[More Meigs Madness]
For those of you following the Meigs field closure (like me), i have more information. My dad (and the other pilots) are supposed to be able to leave today. This is handy, since he was supposed to be in San Diego yesterday. For further articles, here is an editorial done by the Chicago Sun-Times. Also, for continuously updated information on the progress and story, check out the AOPA's website. Finally, here is a picture for y'all of my dad's plane stuck at Meigs. His plane is the third from the left, between the two twin-engine planes...

Here's a cool site to see what people websites looked like back in the day like the evolution of yahoo or ebay or wsu.edu.

[Bizarre Twists 'R Us]
Here's a bizarre twist of my childhood videogame world and the real world.
Meigs Field is the notorious default starting airstrip in Microsoft Flight Simulator, the site at which I had plowed many a virtual Cessna and Lear Jet into the ground. It now looks like this...

It actually looks a little like it did after repeated nose-dives into the ground in the simulator. Here's an article describing the "midnight sneak-attack" destruction of the runway.
And in an even more bizarre twist, Eric's dad and his plane are indefinitely grounded at Meigs because of the runway being plowed up. The only thing weirder is that I don't believe this was a practical joke even though it's April Fool's day.

[Darn you, Eric!]
I had about 10 people convinced that story was real. It's hard to tell that it's an article from a Weekly World News just looking at the story. But nooo... you had to go and blow it! That was my pre-April 1 April Fools' joke.

[Time Traveler]
Yeah, and if you like the time traveler story, you should check out some of the other stories that you can get from the same site, such as "America Should Be A Bad-Ass Cowboy", "Archaeologists Find 12,000 Year Old Magazine From Atlantis", "Schools Will Force Your Kids to Take Drugs!", and my personal favorite headline, "Fish Has Human Face!". Heck, just check out the index site to find all of these wonderful stories from our friends at Weekly World News. However, I have to admit that the time traveler article is very well written.
